NPR NERD APPLIES FOR MARKETING ROLE AT LOCAL RADIO STATION
Somewhere, Wis. — KT Olsen, a lover of public radio and an up-and-coming creative, is proud to submit her application for the Awesome Marketer position available at Public Radio.
Olsen got a taste of marketing as a student at the University of Creatives, where she created marketing materials for a microfiction blog she ran under the publications committee. There, she learned the basics of InDesign, the importance of quality copy and garnered a love for the commercial arts. The marketing materials solicited submissions for the blog.
After earning her bachelor’s in English/creative writing, she spent several years in Milwaukee, where she worked as a “glorified data entry clerk,” according to Olsen. She spent a year in New Zealand as a “last hurrah” before refocusing her professional aspirations on writing and publication. For over a year, she’s been the assistant editor at a local magazine.
In the work place, she’s a self-starter, a multi-tasker, a project manager and learns new skills quickly. She’s a team player and may organize the occasional office potluck. Olsen is known to critique billboards in the car and is annoyed by grammatical errors in novels.
Public radio has been Olsen’s chosen morning alarm since she bought an iHome (back when iHomes were still new). “The Joy Cardin Show” was her program of choice in Milwaukee, but prefers the News and Classical Network nowadays. She’s known to listen to NPR One while doing household chores and sometimes falls asleep to jazz in the evenings.
“Thank you for considering me for this position,” she says. “Interviewing and getting hired for it would be a dream come true.”
